The Cytology department of Fort Wayne Medical Laboratory offers full spectrum on-site processing for both Gyn and Non-Gynecologic specimens. We process both SurePath™ and ThinPrep™ liquid based paps to provide the most current standards of care. We also do in-house Digene HPV testing that can be ordered as a reflex test or ordered one at a time. We offer one of the most highly qualified cytology staff teams in the area. We have a full staff of certified cytotechnologists as well as seven pathologists.

Hours:

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Processing:

From the time a Pap smear is accessioned in the lab, the normal turn around time is three to four working days. Non-gynecologic specimens will be processed within one working day. If a cell block is made, turn around time will be two working days on non-gynecologic specimens.

Reporting:

For non-gynecologic specimens, a fax is sent or a phone call is made to the client's office as soon as a diagnosis is rendered. Written reports are sent on all specimens via fax, web browser, or interfacing.
